The wildcard (% allows you to search on the first part of an Employer or Learner name. For instance, a search on Hair% will retrieve all employers that start with the string HAIR, including "Hair Shop" and "Hairdressing Institute" etc.
When using the wildcard 9%) in your search, never enter it as the first character of the search criteria. Such a search is too general and may take a long time to retrieve any results. If you are not certain of the spelling of the word, enter at least the first letter or two fo the word before adding the %. For example, Ha% or Mi%.
The first name of a learner may contain more than one given name. If you are not sure of the person's second name, add to wildcard (%) to the person's first name, e.h. Michael%.
